The Real Housewives of Orange County fans can’t understand why Vicki Gunvalson cannot find a lasting relationship. Her love tank is currently empty.
On The Real Housewives of Orange County, Vicki Gunvalson has been unlucky in romantic matters, and it’s time to explain why her love life is never quite what she wants it to be. The original RHOC cast member has always spoken about how she’s looking for her perfect match, but she has fallen short of her goal so far. On the series, the Coto Insurance owner has often equated her love life to a “love tank,” noting that it has always run a bit low.
Vicki is no stranger to controversy. Throughout her reality career, the mother of two has been vocal about wanting to find her Prince Charming. Fans watched her marriage to Donn Gunvalson come apart at the seams after the two stopped communicating. She was also played by a New Orleans con artist, Brooks Ayers, which caused tension within her family. However, her ability to appreciate the spectacle is what kept her on The Real Housewives of Orange County for so long. Eventually, Vicki got demoted. Then, as her love life has, her time on reality TV came to an abrupt end.
The Real Housewives of Orange County viewers are starting to question Vicki’s ability to find a suitable partner since she can’t seem to lock down a healthy relationship. The most recent failure was her romance with Steve Lodge. After two years together, her ex-fiance decided to have an affair. Vicki held nothing back as she shared that Steve used her and was dishonest. She noted that he was not who he pretended to be. This issue of mistaken identity seems to be a common theme among Vicki’s former men, whom she feels often dupe her into loving them. It was revealed that Steve was filling up his love tank elsewhere with a 36-year-old woman. Bravo fans will recall that even Steve’s mother, Helga, pointed out that his personality didn’t match Vicki’s, and some RHOC viewers believe that a mother always knows.
Vicki’s relationship with Donn ended when she filed for dissolution of marriage in 2010. The move came as a surprise to fans, who had just watched their vow renewal during season 5. Donn shared his side of the story at the reunion, saying that Vicki had blindsided him with the divorce. He said he found out when he was served with the papers at his office. Donn told Andy Cohen that it was typical Vicki and that she “orchestrated” the divorce. Season 7 introduced Brooks Ayers, whom everyone felt was a con artist. By season 10, it was revealed that he had lied about his cancer diagnosis, and Vicki had known about the fake information. After four years of a troubled relationship, the two called it quits.
Is it Vicki’s fault that she can’t land a decent man? Most The Real Housewives of Orange County viewers think so. She was often warned about Brooks by her daughter and friends, but she ignored the red flags. If what Donn claims is true, then Vicki needs to take time to reevaluate her life. Maybe she is not meant to find her dream man. She has a successful business and two children, so she has a lot of things in her life that bring her happiness, even when her love tank is empty. Luckily she still has the support of Tamra Judge, who claimed she will now be in charge of screening the next boyfriend.
